Ok my friend, fit comfortable in your chair and prepare to listen to my story about system administrators.

Most stories begins with 'In one far far away kingdom...' or 'Many years ago in a distant galaxy...', but that's not about our story. 'cause our story happens right now and right here. It's about system administrators... the humans they spend all of their lives to make computers and users are more closer and friendlier to each other.
So, your first logical question would probably be 'Wait! Who are the hell those "sistem admynistatoorz" ? Ok, I'll try to explain this as best as I can.

System administrators are much like an erythrocytes for human body, but their 'body' are computer networks. You'll never know about sys.admin existence until something bad happens with you network. If everything works perfect no one would ever know, that there are lots of people behind the scene, who works hard everyday to make your network work perfect.

Those people are much like an poets. Their poetry are scripts. Inspired by endless manual pages they spend days and nights writing thousands lines of code. Each script is different... it's very much like a poetry. You can say a lot about author after reading scripts... some of them are short and beautiful like Japan haïku, while others are long and whirled like Italian pasta.

Those people are much like an artists who see the hidden beauty in network topology, who can spend hours on looking at the logs output and servers stats. Those people doesn't use brashes or carbons for their paintings. They see perspective. They fill the colors and beauty in algorithms and mathematical models. Good sys.admin has VISION to see the hidden.

These people are like conductors who's orchestra are stack of serves. In hundred working coolers noise they can distinguish one cooler, that sounds bad and should be replaced. They dream a silent cooler whisper when they fall asleep. Good sys.admin has PERFECT PITCH.

These people are much like good fighters. As Bruce Lee once said "Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it into a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." Good sys.admin is always like water.

So, the way of a system administrator is long and hard, but it worthy of it, because it's in fact is just another way to perfection.
